Poll: What’s been your World Cup story of the week? [week 2]

Jun 25 2010 Published by under your input

Last week I used the World Cup as an excuse to experiment with embedding PollDaddy polls into WordPress. This week I don’t really have an excuse, except to say that I thought it was an interesting exercise. Time to think back to some of your highlights and select your favourite.

Just because you call it web 2.0 doesn't mean that it is

C’mon Disneyland Paris, “real time news” – 3 days? Really?

Eurodisney

That’s a pretty epic demonstration of trying to hang out with the web’s cool kids but just not getting it. Getting the technology is only 10% understanding social media. Just like the old days, it requires engaging, relevant and up-to-date content.

The site also advertises that you can follow the characters on Facebook. I checked that out, the characters seem to have joined late in February and there’s been not a peep since. The added dimension of social media is engaging with your audience – creating an online presence is the beginning, not the end.

And don’t even get me started on the fact this this website blasts on music on first load.

Poll (LinkedIn): Does your company have a social network policy?

Jun 09 2009 Published by under your input

I’ve been talking to colleagues in various parts of the firm about social networking. We’re trying to work out what’s the best approach to take both for ourselves and in the advice we provide to our clients. With this in mind, I setup a little poll on LinkedIn asking the question Does your company have a policy for publishing on social networking sites? Admittedly, it’s pretty one-dimensional but if I get enough responses the answer may be interesting.

Go on, answer the question. I’ll share the results here in a few days.
