Using templates when autoposting blog entries from flickr

I just discovered that with a bit of tinkering I could get my photoblog posts from this…

to this…

These posts are auto-created by flickr when I email images to a specific email address. I never liked that flickr repeated the image title and “uploaded by” under the image, it was a bit overpowering. Admittedly, I can’t remember if I tried this when I set it up as it was about 18m ago but it was all pretty simple.

Here’s what I did…

(1) Went to the blog settings on flickr. If you’re already logged in, click here. Otherwise, navigate to You –> Your Account –> Tab: Extending Flickr and in the “Your blogs section” select to edit. Of course, if you don’t have a blog already setup, you’ll need to do that first.

(2) Choose “layout” and then select to customise and you’ll see an edit screen where you can tinker to your heart’s content.
The markup is pretty straightforward and with a bit of experimenting you can probably get it how you want it. I was also able to add some additional text, in my case the blog link, which saves me tapping this out into each email.

I think it’s looking much neater, check it out for yourself.
